Francois Pignon (DANIEL AUTEUIL) führt als
Buchhalter in einer Kondomfabrik ein
unauffälliges und monotones Leben. Doch das
alles ändert sich, als Pignon zufällig erfährt,
dass er entlassen werden soll. Denn sein
Nachbar (MICHEL AUMONT) hat eine geniale
rettende Idee: Die graue Maus soll sich ganz
einfach rosa einfärben.

Und so inszenieren die
beiden ein fingiertes Coming Out, indem sie
unter der Fabrikbelegschaft eine Fotomontage
verbreiten, die Pignon in einer ziemlich heiklen,
unzweideutigen Situation zeigt.
Und das ist auch gut so, jedenfalls zunächst, denn
Pignons Chef (JEAN ROCHEFORT) nimmt aus
Furcht davor, als intolerant zu gelten, die beabsichtigte Kündigung
wieder zurück, und auch bei seinen Kollegen erfreut sich der sexuell
Konvertierte plötzlich größter Beliebtheit.

Doch das neue Leben als
Betriebshomo zeigt bald nicht nur seine rosaroten Seiten: Am anderen
Ufer schlagen Pignon unverhofft sämtliche schwulen Klischees sowie
Wellen schleimigster P.C.-Toleranz entgegen. Und während es immer
wahrscheinlicher wird, dass sein Spiel bald auffliegt, überschlägt sich rätselhafterweise ausgerechnet
der raubeinige Trainer der betriebseigenen Rugby-Mannschaft (Gérard Depardieu) mit warmen
Freundschaftsbekundungen gegenüber dem kürzlich erwärmten Bruder...

Ethan Hawke, an actor I really appreciate, also to be seen in the very good film "Gattaca". "Training day" is somehow too dark for me but certainly approaching the "real world" ...
